About the role

You will be part of VPP Growth, managing all aspects related to Safety. In this context you will directly advise the Vice President on all HSE matters related to the Projects in all their phases, from study to execution, coordinating with the key stakeholders of both operations and the functions, you will ensure the design, implementation, and quality of execution of our HSE Plan for the Vice Presidency.

The Manager of HSS, VP Projects, will be accountable for:

  • Maintain an overriding commitment to health, safety and security and coach site, project, operational readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level Documents (Our Requirements), Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.
  • Provide professional advice and services to enable the implementation of leading health and safety practices throughout the VP of Projects.
  • Collect, record, verify and report HS data to fulfill BHP corporate, project and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Work closely with the Project Function and engineering / implementation contractors to provide HS study phase and execution phase deliverables.
  • Liaise with the Project Function, Program Engineering and Area Managers to ensure HSE considerations are embedded in design.
  • Manage the provision and delivery of HS-related services (e.g. HS-related training and onboarding; security and site access) for owner-managed activities.
  • Monitoring and control costs within approved limits.
  • Coordinate Emergency Management Team (EMT) response to any incident.
  • Manage input and interface with Asset and global HSE initiatives.
  • Develop HS systems, processes and procedures for projects.
  • Review of project HS performance and progress against agreed initiatives and/or directives.
  • End-of-month HS reporting for corporate and other legal requirements.
  • Approve any changes to the Project HS Management System.
  • Implement the BHP HS assurance program for the VP of Projects.
About You

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Health Science, Environmental Science, Health and Safety Management, Risk Management, Engineering or a related field.
  • Extensive Project Management Exposure on the delivery of large Capital Projects desirable.
  • Technical: professional that has guided, developed and influenced practice in the HSE area with a minimum 15 years of experience in a relevant industry. Requires detailed knowledge of key concepts, theories and practices related to effective management of HSE related risks as well as project management and major project experience.
  • Leadership: management experience leading medium sized teams for a minimum of 5 years. Proven contribution in establishing work plans and managing the delivery of those plans via effective leadership and management of human and physical resources. Demonstrated experience in executing technical HSS related work, including involvement in major change initiatives.
  • Operational: minimum of 5 years’ experience in a large mining operation or capital project, including responsibility for budgets at work team level.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: demonstrated capability to negotiate and influence internal and external stakeholders, including regulators and community groups, at senior management level.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written English/Spanish language proficiency.

Principales Responsabilidades
  • Participar en la ejecución y/o acompañamiento de los entrenamientos técnicos para nuevos ingresos y trainees a ejecutar por equipo de Training
  • Operar la flotación colectiva
  • Gestionar reactivos en la operación
  • Cumplir recuperación y ley de concentrado esperado según con la calidad del producto al proceso aguas abajo (granulometría, sólido, flujo, etc)
  • Operar proceso de remolienda
  • Conocer los parámetros de calidad requeridos y como se gestión en la operación de flotación
  • Operación de acuerdo a parámetros establecidos de la planta y utilización de herramientas de control avanzado cuando corresponda
  • Participar en rutinas estandarizadas (ej. 5S, MIP, DdD, entre otras)
  • Realizar coordinación con los operadores, supervisores y coordinadores para el cumplimiento del plan según sea necesario
  • Generar reporte de cierre de turno (ej. Información relevante del turno)
  • Conocer y aplicar los protocolos de emergencia de su rol
  • Identificar oportunidades de mejora dentro del proceso
Requisitos
  • Ingeniero/a Civil en Minas, Ingeniero/a Civil Mecánico, Ingeniero/a Civil Industrial, Ingeniero/a Metalurgista o Químico, o carrera afín con el cargo.
  • Experiencia 5 años en sala de control y/o 7-10 años en roles mineros
  • Alta capacidad de análisis.
  • Disponibilidad para realizar trabajo en turno rotativo 7x7 con base en Santiago.
  • Disponibilidad para viajar a faena.

Principales Responsabilidades:

  • Administrar, gestionar y controlar la operación del sistema AHS, coordinando las interacciones de los camiones dentro de la mina. Asignar los equipos, diseña rutas y ubicaciones de cargas según el plan de producción velando por la seguridad de las personas y los equipos. Coordina con otras áreas los trabajos necesarios con el fin de dar continuidad operacional maximizando el desempeño de la flota carguío y transporte.
  • Administrar eficientemente los recursos asignados y cumplir con las metas establecidas.
  • Proporcionar escalamientos oportunos cuando sea necesario, según el modelo de gobernabilidad y gestión de contingencias vigente.
  • Control hora a hora de los principales indicadores del proceso que apalancan el cumplimiento del plan.
  • Identificar las oportunidades de mejora para la performance en terreno (fallas del equipo, variaciones de parámetros operativos, entre otros).
  • Controlar que la operación se realice de acuerdo con los estándares de diseño del sistema AHS (rutas y zonas de operación, puntos de espera, acumulación, etc.).
  • Ejecutar los protocolos o procedimientos correspondientes ante fallas, contingencias o emergencias en la operación AHS (autorización de bloqueo de rutas y áreas, creación de zonas de seguridad, etc.).
  • Gestiona los ingresos y salidas de la zona autónoma.
  • Verificar que los controles críticos estén correctamente implementados en la Zona Autónoma.
  • Contribuir proactivamente a la evaluación del Sistema de Transporte Autónomo y las iniciativas de mejora continua de seguridad y eficiencia.
  • Contribuir activamente al correcto desarrollo del plan minero de la Compañía, debiendo realizar tareas específicas que le puedan ser requeridas por su líder o 1up por requerimientos operacionales, siempre que se encuentre capacitado para ello. Promover la seguridad para alcanzar el “Cero daño”, tanto a las personas como a los equipos e infraestructura.
  • Cumplir con las Políticas y Procedimientos de Salud y Seguridad de BHP (Programa Control de Riesgos transversales, Plan de control de riesgos medio ambientales, otros).

Requerimientos:

  • Título profesional relacionado con el cargo (Ingeniería en Minas, Informático, Automatización o similar)
  • Deseable curso, diplomado o certificación en sistemas de control o sistemas automáticos. (por ejemplo: FMS, Autonomía de camiones, Perforadora, etc.)
  • Mayor a 10 años experiencia en minería a cielo abierto (operación, planificación, etc.)
  • Experiencia en sala de control mayor a 5 años en roles de despacho mina o gestión de flota (Front Runner)
  • Deseable conocimiento de la cadena de valor de minería y entendimiento de planes y habilitadores
  • Excelentes habilidades de comunicación; tanto escritas como verbales.
  • Excelentes habilidades de gestión de personas y colaboración entre áreas.
  • Alta motivación y orientación a los resultados.
  • Manejo de sistemas de gestión de flota (preferentemente Dispatch y Frontrunner), Excel, Word, PowerPoint y sistema de Re portabilidad indicadores de desempeño.
  • Otros sistemas: certificaciones en simulador, sistemas de despacho, etc.

Responsabilidades
Acerca del rol:

  • Diseñar y desarrollar planes de minería subterránea, desde la ingeniería conceptual hasta la ingeniería de factibilidad, incluyendo la programación del desarrollo de accesos y la producción de la mina.
  • Seleccionar el método de explotación, los equipos y los requisitos de personal adecuados para cada proyecto.
  • Realizar estimaciones de costos de capital y operación.
  • Realizar visitas al a terreno según sea necesario para recopilar datos esenciales, evaluar las condiciones del proyecto o mina en operación y prestar servicios de consultoría de manera eficaz.
  • Contribuir a los informes técnicos elaborados por la compañía que incluyen planificación minera, desarrollo de estudios de alternativas, estimación de costos de operación y capital y eventualmente, estimación de reservas minerales.
  • Proporcionar evaluaciones técnicas independientes tanto de los proyectos mineros en desarrollo como de las minas que están en funcionamiento.
  • Utilizar y mejorar los conocimientos técnicos con software de diseño minero, como MineSight y otras herramientas técnicas relacionadas.

Acerca De Ti

  • Ingeniero en minas titulado.
  • Mínimo de 10 a 15 años de experiencia profesional específica en operaciones mineras y/o consultoría.
  • Experiencia en minería subterránea con un claro conocimiento de las operaciones mineras.
  • Competencia técnica en planificación y programación de minas subterráneas, métodos de explotación selectivos y masivos. Diseño de caserones y/o unidades de explotación y estimación de costos.
  • Competencia en el uso de herramientas avanzadas de software de planificación minera, como MineSight y otras herramientas.
  • Excelentes habilidades de comunicación escrita y verbal, con capacidad para presentar con claridad información técnica compleja.
  • Fuertes habilidades de colaboración, capaz de trabajar eficazmente como parte de equipos de proyectos multidisciplinarios.
  • Se valorará la experiencia previa en consultoría y/o minería rajo abierto
  • Dominio de inglés al menos nivel intermedio.
  • Estar registrado como QP es considerado como un plus

Your future role on our team
Upon joining our Earth and Infrastructure team, you'll assist in mining projects (tailings dams, water management systems, waste rock, open pit, etc.). As a consulting engineer, you'll support a wide variety of tailings storage facilities and waste rock spoils projects, including dam safety inspections and reviews, field investigation, laboratory testing and interpretation, design and construction.

  • Assist in the execution of basic and detailed engineering projects in geotechnics and tailings
  • Write technical documents, calculation notes, specifications and study reports
  • Apply current standards and work methodologies, while continuously seeking improvement
  • Attend internal and client coordination meetings
  • Conduct field surveys and onsite studies
  • Supervise project implementation in the field, when necessary
  • Support the commissioning of tailings management systems and hydraulic structures
  • Participate in cross-functional engineering projects, from design to field supervision
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers and technicians
  • Develop innovative technical solutions that contribute to the sustainability and efficiency of tailings management
  • Play an active role in continuously improving methodologies and work standards
  • Present your technical developments and innovative solutions at industry conferences and technical forums, contributing to your professional growth and recognition

Overview Of Certifications And Job Requirements

  • University degree in Civil or Mining Engineering with a specialization in geotechnics, hydraulics or tailings; a post-graduate degree would be an asset
  • At least 5 years of experience in projects related to stability analysis, monitoring, tailings management and hydraulic design
  • Knowledge of applicable local and international standards
  • Strong technical writing skills for high-level reports
  • Experience with numerical modelling tools and software such as Python or similar
  • Availability to conduct site visits, when required
